Matthew Bristowe
Topic: The Art and Mechanics of Stereo Conversion

Matt BristoweMatthew is the Head of Production, View-D™ at Prime Focus Film. He began his production career at MPC as a DI Producer where he was instrumental in establishing the new department, and setting up the first DI pipelines and helping to grow the division. During this time, he worked on major feature film projects including 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, Troy and 10,000BC. Matthew’s dedication and expert knowledge of issues both creative and technical, led him to assume the role of Senior DI Producer when MPC was taken over by Technicolor in 2009. His essential input to feature films such as Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, reaffirmed his status as one of London’s foremost DI producers.

Since joining Prime Focus as executive producer for View-D™ - Prime Focus’ proprietary system for the conversion of 2D moving images to stereo 3D images - Matthew has overseen the stereoscopic conversion of a number of high-profile films including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. After the launch of Prime Focus’ Film division, Matthew has become Head of Production, orchestrating the development and recruitment for the growing 3D division, establishing Prime Focus Film London as a centre of excellence for all matters stereoscopic. He is also leading the London facility for the 2D to 3D conversion of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace


Enrique Criado
Topic: Stereoscopic Cinema - Connecting Your Storyline with Visual Perception 
 
Enrique CriadoEnrique is creative Stereographer, experienced Stereoscopic Supervisor and S3D Consultant, who has been working with studios, producers, and directors on stereoscopic films and projects, connecting narrative to stereography, improving workflow and optimizing S3D implementation costs, from concept through post and delivery, since 1995. He has been also supervising stereography on CGI productions and VFX compositions, developed his own tools for live action shooting including 3D rigs, 3D live alignment software, 3D underwater housing, but also tools to improve post stereo corrections and techniques. Enrique has participated in the most important industry events by giving speeches, conferences or even with his publications (IBC, Broadcast, SD&A, DGA Digital Day, SMPTE), awarded as the one with the best use of 3D Stereo in the Stereoscopic Displays and Applications 2008. He also played as a  judge for the 3D Theatre with Samuel Zhou from Imax Corporation and supervised the Star Wars short film 3D projection in Spain for Lucasfilm in 2007. 

Abstract 
Many tools are available today for 3D filming, even more for 3D CGI, but what about those new tools that comes with stereoscopic viewing? Does your stereography follow your storyline? Concepts like multi-roundness, retinal rivalry, the side effects of playing with inter-axial, but also new ideas for the DoP and cinematographer will be explained, but also be experienced in a full 3D stereo conference.  


Veikko Miettinen
Topic: Stereoscopic Aerial Shootings with Visiofly – Lessons Learned 

Veikko Miettinen by Miska KorpelainenVeikko is working as a head of Content Mine game incubator in Outokumpu, Finland. He has background in producing music documentaries ja dvd productions. At the moment Veikko works as a full time game design advisor. He is a 3D generalist and works with motion capture, 3D modeling , animation and compositing programs. He has a special interest in 3D stereo effects. 

 

 


Jukka Ylitalo
Topic: Body, Mind and 3D Simulation Experiments in Sports and Arts Jukka Ylitalo

Jukka is a programmer, media artist and lecturer in new media design. His educational background is in theoretical philosophy.  Jukka's latest media art works apply physical interfaces and 3D graphics. Currently he is lecturer in Helsinki City College of Technology and Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

 

 

 

 


Georges Segura and Mikko Liukkonen
Topic: Augmented Reality Solutions for Education and Business Purposes

 Georges SeguraGeorges is the Sales Director of the company AduSal Oy since April this year. AduSal Oy designs and produces Augmented Reality solutions for the public and private sector. This company helps corporate customers develop a new and innovative generation of marketing campaigns using Augmented Reality applications. By adding Augmented Reality applications, companies can reinforce their image in an energetic and innovative way. Augmented Reality can also be widely used for education purposes. Games editors can also use Augmented Reality for more engagement from players. Prior to this assignment in the company AduSal Oy, Georges has worked for five years as the main administrator of the ICT tools for Salpaus Further Education and become a specialist in virtual worlds especially in Second Life virtual  world. He has developed new educational approaches using the power of immersive environments. He has gained his experience in ICT using all available tools since 1997 as he worked as a French and Spanish teacher in adult education in Lahti from 1997 to 2005. 

Mikko LiukkonenMikko is a telecommunications engineer. He works as the main administrator of ICT tools for Salpaus Further Education in Lahti. Mikko has specialized in designing and creating augmented reality applications for education and business purposes. He is also a specialist of 3D realXtend world and plays a key role in the development of pedagogical games for Salpaus using this 3D world. Mikko develops as well mobile applications for Android and iPhone platforms. 

 

 

 


Sami van Ingen
Topic: From Nervous Systems to Twitchy Methods - Reaching Out for the Hidden Landscape of Otherness in Kalevala Sami van Ingen

 

Sami works mainly with film and video in the context of fine arts. One of the main characteristics of his work is the examination of the cinematic apparatus itself and the boundaries within it. Sami's works have been screened in many national and international festivals and venues over the years. He is currently writing a book about the contemporary practises of film based experimental cinema.
